Taking care

Photo of a meadow

It's been a feverish, sideways slide into fall.

My guy and I have been on the run, completing outdoor projects, entertaining, going to concerts, making last trips to the beach. I wouldn't change a second of it, but it's time to slow down.

I have so many writing projects I want to dig in to, but can't seem to prioritize my time or to settle down enough to work on them.

To counter the hectic energy, I'm doing something I've never done before. I'm taking myself on a solo, silent retreat.

The first of October, I'm taking up residence for three days in a teeny tiny hermitage on the edge of a meadow in southwest Michigan. I'll have my laptop (but no connectivity), journal, yoga mat, fireplace, miles of trails, a labyrinth, and solitude.

I totally can't wait.
